Hole by hole

1 - Chi-Chi - Hdcp - Men 18 - Ladies 14

A nice short little dogleg left. Long hitters can drive this green. Short hitters should aim for the fairway past or short of the ditch. Way left? You are OB - hit a provisional.

2 - Raven's Roost - Hdcp - Men 4 - Ladies 4

Long and straight. OB left big pines right. Green slopes from back to front, especially on the back.

3 - Becker's Lake - Hdcp - Men 16 - Ladies 16

A pretty little par 3. Left bank red staked. Green slopes down from the pond.

4 - Guille's Pasture - Hdcp - Men 12/14 - Ladies 12

Long green has a swale across the middle and lots of subtle breaks. Lots of players like to approach from 5 fairway.

5 - Bunker Hill - Hdcp - Men 10/12 - Ladies 8

If you go way left you are on the driving range. Hit a provisional. Back right pin? Good luck with this putt. A severe break to the river.

6 - Ponderosa - Hdcp - Men 2 - Ladies 2

A long narrow dogleg right. A fade off the tee is OK here for the right-handers. Once in the trees you might as well enjoy the scenery. Sometimes you will play the whole way through the trees. Two tiered green.

7 - Illusion - Hdcp - Men 14/8 - Ladies 18

Called Illusion for a good reason. Green is more level than it appears to be.

8 - Railway - Hdcp - Men 6 - Ladies 6

This hole is uphill to a deep green with a crazy tier at the back and a deep bunker guarding the approach. Par is good here.

9 - Lone Pine - Hdcp - Men 8/10 - Ladies 10

Sometimes a long drive brings the lone pine into play more than a short drive. Try to stay short of the green rather than trying to chip on from the sides. It can be a really tricky chip on. Green has too many breaks to even describe.

10 - Telegraph - Hdcp - Men 7/5 - Ladies 5

This is your first taste of the back nine. The "Mr Hyde" to the front nine's "Dr. Jeykll" if you will. Red staked left. Slightly uphill with a deep two-tier green.

11 - Sidewinder - Hdcp - Men 13 - Ladies 11

This is where you start getting a taste of back nine fairway lies. Green is three levels with bunkers left, right and behind. The shot from the downslope of the back bunker to a blue flag is one of the hardest shots you can imagine. Don't go in there!!

12 - Telegraph - Hdcp - Men 1/3 - Ladies 9

Our signature hole. Don't be intimidated by the road. You get relief on the road. However there are even more ways to screw up on the other side. If you are a 10-plus handicap be happy with bogie here. Great views to the St. Mary river below. Red staked down the bank.

13 - Reprieve - Hdcp - Men 11 - Ladies 7

A beautiful golf hole. Slight dogleg right and a ball-gobbling bunker left below the tiered green. Right bunker is mostly decorative. Approach shots from the right rough need to be handled carefully.

14 - Newton's Pride - Hdcp - Men 5/7 - Ladies 1

The only par 5 on the back has an optimal landing area the size of a pool table. Hackers should be ready to hit a second shot from down in the right rough. It's OK though the fairway is easy to ht from there. Green is two-tiered guarded by several bunkers. Jail is on the right below the fairway.

15 - Look Out - Hdcp - Men 17 - Ladies 17

The torture is over (for a while) as this is a hittable green.  Sometimes bouncing down off the hill on the right side to a blue flag is a good shot. Depends on how dry the hillside is.

16 - Wood's Corner - Hdcp - Men 3/1 - Ladies 15

The best shot is over the trees onto the left-turning fairway. From the back blue tee you will be lucky to get on the fairway. Lots of bunkers. Don't go right. Tiered green with lots of tricky places for a pin.

17 - Hogan's Alley - Hdcp - Men 9 - Ladies 3

Road left is OB. Trees right are red staked. Tiered green is bunkered right and grass bunkered left.

18 - Comin' Home - Hdcp - Men 9 - Ladies 13

Finally you are out of the woods. Maybe. There is still a chance to visit the pine forest left and the poplars and pines right. The top of this green is small and more level than it appears to be.

If you think a golf course has to be long to be challenging, you haven't played Kimberley Golf Club. Our course requires shot making and patience, and our greens are always among the best (maybe the best) in the valley.
